On the way home from a day trip to the firm; Holman Fenwick Willan, I looked at Nathan and said ‘I would love to work here, it would be my dream’. A few months later, I received a call from Nathan, informing me of an opportunity to do work experience with the same Law firm. I obviously went for it, all thanks to Nathan.
In February 2016, I attended a short work experience placement at HFW. Working at the firm helped me gain an insight of how it would feel to work in a busy office environment located in Central London, along with giving me the correct experience to decide whether I wanted to actually pursue a career in Law, or not. The most enjoyable parts throughout the placement were attending the Royal Courts of Justice and attending meetings on real life cases dealt by the firm. However, writing up chronologies for my supervisor was quite challenging, as I had to read and study cases which were a few hundred pages long.
In July 2017, HFW invited me to attend a work experience alumni networking event, which was a great success. We were introduced to lawyers and other staff members who answered any questions we had. They further informed us of the best pathways to Law and some of the benefits of being a lawyer. It was rather intriguing listening to other people’s experiences, and it has definitely motivated me to try my best to become a successful lawyer.
